Product Information

Chappi Dog Food recommends to feed this dog food to dogs above 12 months. So it is not good for puppies stage dogs.

One of the main features of this product is that it is easily digestible and helpful to the dogs with a sensitive stomach.

It is a balanced diet with a special blend of low fat and dietary fiber.

However, the exact ingredients have not been written over the package. This makes the brand less transparent.

Real Content

Cereal & by-products

cereal

Chappi Dog Food contain cereal, majorly corn, and cereal by-product.

Now, cereal by-products are the discarded parts of grain, obtained while preparing cereal.

This makes us consider these by-products as a waste. Plus they are cheaply available. Whole and sole, this makes the ingredient really questionable!

These by-products are not easily digested by the dog’s carnivore digestive system and even doesn’t provide any nutritional value.

Meat derivatives

Second ingredient is meat derivatives also called as meat by-product. While company claims to be using edible meat as well as by-products, their proportion is still unknown.

This includes meat derivatives & meat about 15% including 4% chicken and some quantity of white fish.

However, the quality of meat by-products is still a debatable topic. For someone who doesn’t know about meat by-products, it is something that we don’t eat, like intestine, bones, blood, fats, liver, brain, etc.

While many dog food industrialist claims it to be useful in dog’s diet, we and many pet nutritionist are against it.

Vegetable oil

The third ingredient is vegetable oil, which is a not so good option for dog. It could cause obesity and could also harm the pancreas.[source]

Instead, company could have used fish oil but then, it would have raised the budget and Chappi Dog Food is a low budget dog food.

Additives

This product does not contain any additive colors, flavors & egg, or dairy products.

It is quite disappointing as egg could be adding good nutritional value to the product which is required by your dog.

Nutritional additive contains vitamin A, D3, E, Magnus sulfate monohydrate, cupric sulfate pentahydrate, potassium iodide, sodium selenite, zinc sulfate monohydrate.[source

Allowed preservatives is also something you will find in this dog food. However, what these preservatives are unknown.

It contains Omega 3 & 6 which is good for the dog’s coat. So you could try this product if your dog’s coat is suffering and above 12 months of age.

Macro

The macronutrient contents of this product are 20% protein, 8% fat, 7% inorganic matter, 2% crude fiber, 1.98 % Omega 6 fatty acid & 0.15% Omega 3 fatty acid.

Our Review:

This product is a cheaper option, just like Pedigree, for your dog. However, feeding this product in a mixture with your dog’s daily home-made food would be beneficial.

It contains a low amount of proteins and generally a lot of carbohydrates which will make your dog fat. So exercising your dog regularly is necessary.

Chappi uses meat by-products that are hated by most of the dog owners. But, some say that dogs in the wild have been adapted to eat those by-products and hence should not be a problem.

This product is a great source of Omega-6 which is necessary for your dog’s hair. Thus, it is in the ‘Pro’ side of the product.

Conclusion:

If you have been using dog food like Orijen, Acana, or Farmina, or Royal Canin then changing it to Chappi won’t be a good suggestion, unless the budget is an issue.

For those who have been feeding their dog home-made food (like rice & milk), adding this product will surely somehow benefit your dog’s coats.
